Rush Education Names Melanie Larson Dean of Schools

[New York, NY, July 1, 2024] – Rush Education, the esteemed education arm of Rush Soccer currently comprised of two academies in Aiea, Hawaii, and Port St. Lucie, Florida, proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Melanie Larson as its Dean of Schools. Dr. Larson brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished career in education spanning over 17 years, marked by her dedication to academic excellence and student empowerment.

 

Dr. Larson’s journey in education began with her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Inspired by her initial experiences as a 2008 Teach for America Corps Member in Phoenix, Arizona, she pursued further academic achievements, earning a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Doctor of Educational Leadership and Innovation Degree from Arizona State University.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Larson has served in pivotal roles including Principal, Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, and Teacher. Notably, she played a foundational role as the founding high school Principal of Ridgeview College Preparatory in San Tan Valley, Arizona. Under her leadership, Ridgeview grew significantly, achieving milestones such as establishing partnerships with prestigious institutions like Central Arizona College and the National Education Equity Lab, offering a wide array of dual enrollment courses.

 

Her achievements at Ridgeview also include strategic planning, budget oversight, curriculum development, and fostering a positive school culture conducive to student leadership and academic achievement. Dr. Larson’s commitment to educational innovation and community building has consistently driven her career.

 

Dr. Larson is thrilled about her appointment saying “I look forward to leading initiatives to further enhance the educational offerings within Rush Soccer’s academies. As Dean of Schools, Dr. Larson will also lead the expansion of Rush Education into other markets including Colorado, Virginia, and Colombia in 2025. With this growth expected next year, five academies will then live under the Rush Education umbrella.
