Maddilyn Eastus Reflects on Her St. Pölten Experience
Maddie Eastus recently took a bold step in her soccer journey, traveling to Austria for a trial with SKN St. Pölten Rush. Throughout the week, Maddie immersed herself in a professional training environment—an experience that was both challenging and rewarding.
A Warm Welcome and High Standards
From day one, Maddie was struck by the balance of professionalism and camaraderie within the team. “My first impressions were that the team was super fun, welcoming, and supportive, as well as focused and professional when needed to be,” she shared. The training sessions lived up to her expectations—fast-paced, intense, and carefully organized. With direct feedback from coaches, Maddie was able to fine-tune her game and adapt to the demands of a higher level.
Adapting to New Challenges
For Maddie, adjusting to a new country, language, and playing style posed a unique challenge. However, she embraced these obstacles as opportunities to grow. “The biggest adjustment for me was adapting to the different country and style, but also trying other positions I don’t normally play. Soccer is all about adjusting to adversity and learning.” A typical day at St. Pölten was rigorous: film study, on-field training, weight sessions, and recovery work—offering a true glimpse into the life of a professional athlete.
A Standout Moment
When asked about her most memorable takeaway, Maddie emphasized how special the entire experience was. “The whole experience was a standout moment for me. Being able to train at that level with an amazing team is something that not many are able to do, and it’s something I am extremely grateful for,” she reflected. Her ability to keep pace with a professional squad further fueled her motivation: “Being able to keep up with them at that level has given me motivation to keep trying.”
The Rush Soccer Connection
Maddie credits Rush Soccer—and the support of coaches like Raoul Voss and Tiago Calvano—for preparing her to seize this opportunity. “Rush has helped me tremendously by keeping me sharp on the ball and game-ready. If I didn’t play with Rush, I don’t think I would’ve been ready for this trial honestly,” Maddie said.
Her advice to other athletes chasing their dreams?
“Always work for what you want, even if it doesn’t go your way. Failing is inevitable, but if you can pick yourself back up and keep working, it will eventually pay off. No one is going to do it for you—it has to come from you. And most importantly, enjoy what you’re doing, or else working for it means nothing.”
The Journey Continues
Maddie R. Eastus’ experience at St. Pölten reflects the power of resilience, adaptability, and hard work. Rush Soccer is proud to support her journey and looks forward to seeing where her dedication takes her next.
