Chevy and One World Futbol Visit NY Rush
New York RUSH, in partnership with Chevrolet and One World Futbol Project, hosted a free soccer clinic at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, New York on May 31 for nearly 200 young soccer players. Each player received a commemorative t-shirt, One World Futbol and great instruction from RUSH coaches.
In addition, 300 One World Futbols were donated to deserving Yonkers based organizations.
“The City of Yonkers youth organizations, Westchester County and Bronx soccer clubs are happy to collaborate with One World Futbol, Chevrolet, and New York RUSH to provide this fantastic opportunity to our youth,” said Jose Ortega, President of Deportivo Yonkers Soccer Club. A dedicated coach and community leader, Jose is devoted to helping youth in the community accomplish their athletic goals. “This event gave our children the opportunity to learn from great coaches on a high quality field and helped inspire the soccer player within each child.”
As the clinic wrapped, RUSH and Chevrolet awarded U.S. Men’s National Team soccer tickets to two surprised participants. They each received 4 tickets to watch the U.S. Men’s team play against Turkey on June 1 at Red Bull Arena.
“With the support of New York RUSH, we continue to apply our global partnership with One World Futbol Project at the local level,” said Mike Weidman, Chevrolet national promotions manager. “By bringing these initiatives together, we continue to empower positive experiences in communities all over the world, share the love of soccer in communities across the U.S. and transform the lives of children through the power of play."
Chevrolet is the Founding Sponsor of One World Futbol Project, an effort that brings the healing power of play to youth worldwide by making, selling and distributing nearly indestructible balls that survive the harshest environments. With the help of Chevrolet, more than 1.5 million futbols will be donated across the world over a 3-year period. Throughout the year, a quantity of One World Futbols will also be donated to RUSH’s 2014 R.E.A.C.H. (RUSH Equipment Assisting Children) program benefitting children in Africa.
