Becca Lidvall is a very busy young lady. She plays soccer both for her high school, D’Evelyn High School in Lakewood, Colorado, and also for the Colorado Rush soccer club. These commitments keep her playing soccer nearly every day of the year, but her commitments don’t end there. Becca’s two older brothers have special needs, and Becca volunteers time with the Rush TOPSoccer program, which stands for The Outreach Program for Soccer. TOPSoccer strives to give the opportunity to learn soccer skills to young individuals with disabilities. She also works to get her friends and teammates involved with the program.
Last year, Becca’s father Dave suffered a debilitating stroke. The family thought that they had lost him. With luck and perseverance, Becca endeavored to help her father recuperate, and her father is now doing much better – able to walk and speak again. “She is a contributor in every way. My daughter is more excited to have others score, and to celebrate with them. I am proud of the way she displays herself. She’s my daughter, my rock,” said Dave of Becca.
In addition to giving support to her family Becca also helps out in her community as well as in other communities abroad. She volunteers with her church, and recently went on a volunteer mission to Costa Rica, where she was able to play and share her love of soccer with young players there. Becca is an excellent student, who carries a 4.0 grade point average, and is President of her high school’s National Honor Society chapter.
