TN Rush Teams play in USYS National League
Lobos Rush 99’ Boys and 00’ Boys have qualified for the USYS National Championships in Germantown, MD after their first year of participation in the National League!
The 99 Boys had to travel to CASL, in North Carolina and Orlando, for games. There was anxious wait to see if their results were good enough to carry them through when the final round was played in Las Vegas in Mid March. The 99’s won 5 and lost 2, beating teams such as; CESA Premier (SC) and Penn Fusion (PA, East) and eventual group winners Albion SC (Cal, South) along the way. Congrats to coach Diego Zaltron and the boys for a fantastic achievement.
The 00 Boys played in CASL and the Las Vegas events and were the only team in the U14 division to go undefeated. They managed to finish in second place and also clinch a berth into nationals in July. The boys faced some extremely tough competition in the first round of group play in North Carolina. The final game saw the boys play against national finalists, Raiders FC from Illinois. The game ended in a thrilling 3-3 tie and both teams had chances to win. When the team headed to Vegas for the remaining group games they knew they controlled their own destiny. It sounded simple enough- win all three games and they would go to the National finals. The other teams had different ideas. The 00’s tied their first game 1-1, however they managed to win their next two games against CUP (OH, South) and Tampa Bay United (FL,) 2-1 and 3-0 respectively. This is the first time any boy’s team from TN has made the National Finals, and to have two from the same club is even more of an achievement. Huge congrats to Mark Forrest and the team for this terrific accomplishment.
