Washington Boys Win Northwest Champions League

12.07.12 - NW CL WinnersCongratulations to the Washington Rush B98 Nike boys for taking home the 2012 Northwest Champions League title in the BU14 age group.

The home and away round robin play were held earlier in the summer in Portland and Redmond.  The Rush boys led their group and advanced to the semis, again scheduled in Portland the weekend of Dec 1 2012.

The boys faced a tough opponent in the semis, barely escaping with a win in extra time over Westside Timbers (OR), 1-0.

The Finals on Sunday saw a rematch against South Fraser (BC), who they had drawn 1-1 in group play.  This time around, the boys did not waste time and raced to a 2-0 halftime lead off supurb counters.

South Fraser struck back early at the start of the second half to make it a 2-1 game, but the boys answered the challenge.  Carlos Carillo netted his hat trick a few minutes later, and Brian Huynh sealed the 4-1 victory with a powerful header off a corner kick in the late stage of the game.

Well done boys!  Winning the NW Champions League awards the boys an automatic entry to 2013 Surf Cup in San Diego.
