Horan Leads US to Victory at U20 World Cup
After nearly 172 minutes of score-less soccer at the U20 Women's World Cup for the USA, Lindsey Horan (CO Rush) opened the scoring for the Americans in dramatic fashion capping off a 1-0 win over Brazil to even their record at 1-1 (after a 2-0 loss to Germany in the opening game).
Horan, who is the leading goal scorer on the U20 roster, missed the 2012 U20 World Cup with a knee injury before by-passing college soccer and going straight to the professional ranks with PSG in France. The game winner against Brazil marked the first World Cup goal for Horan who led the team during World Cup qualifying.
Lindsey, who has arguably been the best attacking player in the tournament, and the US finish their opening round games on Tuesday when they take on China. The US advance with a win. ESPNU will air the game.
