Horan Continues to Blaze a Trail
It seems there is no ceiling for Lindsey Horan as she continues to soar to new heights. Horan has been named by US Soccer coaches and staff as well as popular vote throughout the United States as US Soccer’s Young Female Athlete of the Year. Lindsey is the first professional player to win the U.S. Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year award. Horan is the first American female to forego college soccer and sign a professional contact in Europe where she has found success with Paris Saint-Germain in the French Feminine Division 1. The 19-year-old is the youngest female American professional player in the world and has scored 22 times in 27 games for the club.
Rush Soccer’s President, Tim Schulz, remarked, “I’m proud of Lindsey. She’s earned it. But I believe the acknowledgement by US Soccer will only serve as another source of motivation for her to continue down the long path towards her incredibly lofty goals.” Colorado Rush Technical Director, Erik Bushey, added, “I am sure with all her followers that Lindsey gained enormous support in the voting process, but I am proud that US Soccer feels the same way we do. Linds took a chance by heading to France at the age of 18 and many people questioned her decision. Lindsey is motivated by her goals, not popular opinion. I look forward to seeing what’s next for her.” The ever humble Horan when asked how she felt after the votes were counted said, “I know the Rush Nation had a great deal to do with my winning of this award. I am grateful for their support. I hope I can continue to represent Rush in a positive light.”
Indeed Lindsey does just that. She represents a positive light, not just for Rush but for soccer in general. Rush is proud of Lindsey and wishes her a bright future. She has made this happen through hard work, unparalleled drive determination and commitment, and she will continue to blaze a new trail most assuredly.
