12.09.13 - UCLA are National Champions!

A story book season for the UCLA Bruins has ended with the team winning the programs first ever National Championship in Women's soccer! Gabbi Miranda, Darian Jenkins and the Bruins knocked off the overall No. 1 seed Florida State Seminoles 1-0 in overtime of the Women's College Cup on Sunday. The Bruins beat three No.1 seeds in winning the title (North Carolina, Virginia, Florida State) the 110th overall National Championship for UCLA, tops in the country. Game details available here.

Congratulations ladies!

In other games from the weekend featuring former Rush players, the New Mexico men advanced to the Men's College Cup with a 1-0 win over Washington. New Mexico has yet to give up a goal in the tournament and will take on Notre Dame in the Semi-finals Friday. Four Rush alumni play for the Lobos.
In the D3 final four, Texas Rush alum Kirsten Bevan and Trinity University beat Middlebury 2-1 to advance to the Championship before falling 2-0 to William Smith.

Good luck to New Mexico this weekend. We'd love to see another Championship picture featuring Rush players next Monday!
