Intense games were played between the U16 and U18 teams from the two clubs. The U18 boys from Colorado (pictured) won their first game of the young Academy season with a 1-0 victory over the Texas side. Arnaldo Chavez scored the lone goal for Colorado. The Texas 18's (pictured below) would bounce back the following day beating Real Colorado 3-2 and sit in 3rd place in the very difficult Frontier Division. The Colorado boys are currently in 9th place in the same division.
The Texas Rush would bounce back in in the U16 game, a back and forth affair that saw Texas walk away 3-2 winners after scoring late in the game. Up 2-1 with 7 minutes to play after goals by captain, Miguel Ruiz and forward David Ortiz, the Colorado team could not finish out the game and had two lapses in concentration. A corner kick went uncontested Cesar Castaneda had a free header in the box and like that, the game had changed. A penalty kick was called a few minutes later and Shareef El-Saadi buried the kick for the Texas Rush to win the game 3-2! The Texas 16's sit in 2nd place and the Colorado boys in 7th after four games.
Colorado will host Texas in the return leg April 27, 2013.
