09.25.12 - 17s beat GambiaMorgan Stanton scored her first international goal as the US U17's routed Gambia 6-0 in their second game of the U17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan.

Stanton and Colorado Rush teammate Lizzy Raben both started the game for the Americans while Gabbi Miranda was given the day off after a full game against France over the weekend. The USA struggled in the first half but five second half goals, including Stanton's in the 83rd, would propel the team to their first win of the tournament.

The US women (4 points) will play their final group game against co-Group B leader Korea DPR (4 points) on Saturday. The winner will advance to the knockout rounds while the loser will need to wait and see what happens in the game between France (2 points) and Gambia (0 points). A tie game against Korea, winners of the 2008 U17 World Cup, would almost certainly eliminate the Americans as France is expected to beat Gambia and Korea DPR have a better goal differential than the Americans. The game will be broadcast on EPSN 3 at 8:00AM EST for those interested in watching.
