Former New Mexico Rush standout and current U18 USYMNT player Ben Spencer Jr. has been on trial with Norwegian Champions Molde for the last month and a half leading up to Christmas break. Ben was committed to UCSB to play college soccer this coming fall, but those plans have changed as he will be signing a professional contract with the Norwegian Champions this coming March when he turns 18. Ben is currently with Molde FK in Spain for preseason training.
Sources close to Spencer report that the soon to be 18 year old has secured a four year contract with Molde that should run through the 2016-17 season. Molde is the two time defending Norwegian Champion and currently take part in UEFA events such as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Ben played his club soccer with NM Rush from the ages of U13-U16 before playing briefly within the USSF Developmental Academy Program with Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake AZ.
