Jacobs Named OR Rush Technical Director
After conducting a national search for a new director to lead Oregon Rush, the Board of Directors proudly announce the hiring of former Major League Soccer (MLS) coach, Brett Jacobs, as the club's new Technical Director (TD).
As a professional coach, Jacobs brings 18 years domestic and international experience to ORSC. He moves into the Technical Director role after spending the last four years working for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. Soon after joining the Rapids and becoming a member of the First Team Staff, Jacobs helped the club in lifting the 2010 MLS Cup (National Championship).
Jacobs came to Colorado with over nine years of Director of Coaching experience. He served stints at both Michigan State Youth Soccer Association and with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. While in Michigan, he worked as the First Team Coach for the Michigan Bucks of the United Soccer Leagues, PDL- leading the Bucks to back to back National Championships matches in 2006 and 2007. Jacobs and the Bucks finished the 2006 season as National Champs.
In addition to his success as a Director of Coaching, Jacobs was one of the first American coaches to work in the English FA Academy system, coaching full-time for London’s Wimbledon Football Club.
Jacobs began his career as an Assistant Coach for the University of West Florida and also served as the Director of Coaching for the Pensacola Soccer Complex, which served as one of the main training destinations for Major League Soccer, US Soccer and international teams.
A graduate of the University of Alabama in Telecommunications, Jacobs is a USSF “A” licensed coach and holds a UEFA “B” badge. He played in professional leagues in London, England and NCAA Division I soccer at the University of South Alabama.
Jacobs states, “I am very excited to join Oregon Rush and become a part of this community. I am truly honored to have been selected to lead this progressive organization and look forward to working with such an enthusiastic board.” Jacobs is scheduled to start his new role with ORSC on April 1st. He added, “I can’t wait to begin training with all of the outstanding soccer talent here in Central Oregon.”
Brett and his wife Jennifer are relocating from Denver with their sons Finn and Jett. Please join me and the Board in welcoming Brett and his family to our Bend community. I believe we are very fortunate to have attracted a Director of Brett’s vast experience at all levels of the game, both domestically and internationally. I am convinced his skills, experience and personality will have a significant and immediate impact on our soccer organization!”
