U17 Idaho Girls Win Big in Vegas
The U17 Idaho Rush girls and Head Coach Olly Frick travelled to Las Vegas recently to participate in the Las Vegas Players Showcase 2014 to demonstrate their skills in front of College coaches.
The U17’s opened up play against Socceredge Academy from Washington with a 1-1 tie giving up a late goal in the second half. Demi Holsman put the Rush 1-0 up in the first half taking it around the goal keeper and placing it into the back of the net. The 17’s had a late game Friday night against DMCV Sharks from California South. Demi Holsman broke free on the counter attack and assisted Courtney Cobler on her goal giving the U17 girls the only goal in the Game with a 1-0 win with Fernanda Rogel recording a shutout.
On Saturday they came back and blanked another tough opponent, beating Diablo of Cal-North, 2-0. Opening goal came from U15 premier guest player, Kate Blickenstaff who came on as a sub and gave the Rush 1-0 lead going into half time. Putting away the game, Rachel Faeth hit a shot outside the 18-yard box that snuck inside the post giving the Rush their second win of the weekend.
Undefeated with 3 wins and no goals against them, the Celtics from Utah met their demise in their final game with Idaho Rush on Sunday. Rush scored before the half on a set piece delivered from Courtney Cobler with Rory Cole heading in the only goal of the game giving the Idaho Rush a massive 1-0 win to top the group and finish 1st. Fernanda Rogel again recorded a shutout and only conceded one goal over the four games.
