Rush Teams Advance to ECNL Nationals!

07.02.14 - TX U15 ECNL NationalsAfter several difficult games during the ECNL Playoffs in Seattle last weekend, two Rush teams have won their groups and now will advance to the National Tournament in Richmond, VA later this month!

The U15 Texas Rush, competing in the prestigious Champions League bracket, dropped their first game of the weekend 2-1 to Eagles Soccer club before bouncing back and beating Concorde Fire (3-2) and Eclipse Soccer Club (1-0) to finish as group champs. They will be vying for a National Title in Virginia!

The success of 2014 continues for the Colorado Rush U16 ECNL!  The 16s fought their way into the North American playoffs in Seattle, WA by going 7-2-2 at the end of the regular season.  This roll continued in Seattle as they went undefeated to win their group, 07.02.14 - U16 CO ECNL Nationalssealing up a final 8 spot and a National Finals trip to Virginia after winning its first 2 games of the week (Bethesda SC and Charlotte Soccer Academy).  The tie on the last day (vs Continental FC Delco) was academic, but the experience of the week, vital.  Richmond awaits and the confidence grows!

The finals take place July 13-17 and the draw for who plays whom, will be on July 12th. Congratulations to both teams and best of luck in Virginia!

Also in attendance at the ECNL playoffs and deserving of recognition, the U17 ECNL girls from Texas, playing in the North America Cup, went 2-1 on the weekend losing only to the group winner.

"I could not be prouder of the players on both the U15 and U17 teams. Going into the final day of the play-off games, both teams had put themselves in very good positions to qualify for the final 8. The U17’s played their best soccer of the weekend on the final day and despite hitting the post, the bar twice and seeing a goal disallowed, we just couldn't find a way through. The U15’s defended brilliantly after getting an early goal and got the result they needed. With both games finishing at the same time on adjacent fields, it was a mixture of emotions at the final whistle. However, I'm equally as proud of both teams," commented Andrew Squire, Texas Rush Director of Coaching - ECNL.

The U15 and U17 Colorado Rush teams both finished in 2nd place in their Champions league groups with the 15's winning one and drawing 2 behind 5 goals from U15 National Team forward Civana Kuhlmann while the 17's fell in their final game 1-0 to the ultimate group winner.
