Rush Director of TOPSoccer, Rick Smith (pictured in blue), recently returned from a TOPSoccer Symposium held in Alaska for Region IV states.
"I'd like to thank Alaska Youth Soccer Association for putting on a very informative and interactive Region IV TOPSoccer Symposium. It was great to network with other TOPSoccer Coordinators from around the country. Robert DeVassie (pictured on right) of Alaska Rush and Alaska Youth Soccer Association did a fantastic job in hosting the event.
All of the presenters were very knowledgeable in their field of work that highlighted important information about specific impairment groups. The information presented will be shared with all of the Thunder programs currently being delivered enabling Coordinators to be better prepared in the delivery of coaching players in their program.
One particular presentation that was very interesting to listen to was by US Paralympics Goalkeeper Keith Johnson (pictured center). He spoke about the experiences he has had playing for the National team. It would have been great for the players in all of the Thunder programs to have heard him speak to know that there are opportunities available to individuals with a disability to reach their potential as he has done."
