The U13 Nike Boys will be the sole Colorado Rush team to represent Colorado at the Far West Regionals in Phoenix this June. After a hard fought battle, the team emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids in the Colorado State Cup finals this past Sunday. Griffin Dorsey slotted home the game’s only goal in the 27th minute after receiving Phillip Gustafson’s assist. Several saves by match MVP Goalkeeper Easton Hartman enabled Nike to hold onto the narrow lead for the remaining nailbiting minutes of the game. “It was a very tough match, the Rapids are a quality team with a few very special individuals. The Rush Boys worked extremely hard all season long and in the end, the hard work paid off and we are looking forward to Regionals,” said Rush Coach, Mike Piserchio.
The boys victory earns them a spot on our 'Page of Champions.'
The win makes the 13's the 16th team Rush will be sending to Region IV finals in Phoenix. Idaho Rush finishes their State Cup this weekend and anticipates adding a few to that total.
