Our US U17 Women’s National Team is currently in Montego Bay, Jamaica for World Cup Qualifying. 20 players have been selected by Head Coach BJ Snow for the qualifying playoff event, these players will participate in 3 group stage games with the potential of 5 total games, including a semi and a final/3rd-place match. Two of these games have already been played, and with an 8-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago and a 7-0 win over Guatemala, the US young women have already qualified for the semifinal before playing rivals Canada in the final group stage match on November 4th.
11.03.13 - Civana GOAL vs TT

One highlight has made it self well known: Coach Snow has selected two 14 year olds to the 20 woman roster. One of them is Civana Kuhlmann, from our U15 Colorado Rush ECNL team. Through the first two games, Civana has earned her first and second caps, earned her first start against Guatemala, and scored her first international goal which she did in her first game…better yet in her first 10 minutes, a fantastic start to say the least. Civana scored in the 77th minute (pictured above. Civana is No. 11) after finding space in the box and receiving a cross from teammate Madison Haley (Dallas Texans, U17). She took the ball down on 2 quick touches and slotted the ball in the back of the net. In scoring this goal, Civana has become the youngest player to score a goal for our U17 WNT.
We asked her team coach, Cameron Bushey, for his thoughts on Civana’s experience, and he had this to say, “I am happy that Coach Snow has given Civana the opportunity. ‘C’ is a person and a player who has a real desire to make the most of what she has. She has been blessed with loads of natural ability, but she puts that ability to work. She wants to grow, and she, along with a number of her teammates and Clubmates, is a part of a Rush culture that loves to train the game. What is my point? She has worked to be where she is, and I am sure this has been a very rewarding feeling – all of it. Being selected, playing, and scoring. In this case specifically, she made the roster, and then was given the opportunity to play. From there, she is going to give her best, and if you get her in front of goal, she can do things. I am both very proud of her and very happy for her that she has gotten her two caps out of two games and has gotten on the scoresheet. I know her mom and dad [Danel and Chris] have travelled to watch as well, so that is special.”
